Helping Hands Worldwide

Hello I wanted to share a heartwarming event that took place yesterday at our military food distribution in San Clemente.
One of our lead volunteers had her son accompany her yesterday at the food distribution after they registered him for school.

As the food is sorted and consolidated it is then packed into boxes for the families waiting in line. Scott, our board member, had the young man help carry empty boxes to the beginning of the food line where they are recycled and used to pack food for the waiting families.

At the front of the line of cars was an active duty soldier & dad. The soldier comes to the distribution during his work break and picks up food for his family each week (he has an autistic son).

The active duty soldier got out of his car and approached our board members and asked if he could shake the young volunteer’s hand and give him a gift. Our board member received the ok from the young man’s mom and gave the soldier a thumbs up.

The soldier proceeded to the young volunteer and told him how proud he was that he was volunteering and helping others. The soldier reached out and shook the young volunteer’s hand. Then the soldier took the gunny pen off his uniform, and gave it to the young volunteer. The young volunteer was so excited to be noticed. The soldier proceeded to take his uniform hat off his head and give it to the young volunteer.
The look on the Young volunteers’ face is priceless.

We wanted to share this special moment with you and give our thanks for all your support.
